How to find (or start) your local mesh

  1. Search here first. Look up your state or city above, then read the group's recommended settings.
  2. Check the preset before you buy or flash. Many US meshes have moved off LongFast, to LongTurbo, MediumFast, or a custom frequency slot. Nodes only hear each other when the preset and slot match.
  3. Scan. The Meshtastic Android and iOS apps have a Local Mesh Discovery feature that listens across presets and ranks what it hears.
  4. Look at public maps (meshmap.net, liamcottle.net), but remember they only show nodes that report to the internet. Many more are out there.
  5. Get height. A node up high, on a roof or in an attic, hears far more than a handheld does indoors.
  6. Still nothing? Register interest so neighbours can find you, and start a group.
